Profiles of Student Achievement in Mathematics at the TIMSS International Benchmarks: U.S. Performance and Standards in an International Context

This report presents detailed information about the mathematics achievement of fourth- and eighth-grade students in the countries that participated in TIMSS in 1995. Student performance in mathematics at four international benchmarks on the TIMSS achievement scales is described and illustrated through example test questions. The report also discuss how performance at the international benchmarks matches up to United States mathematics standards.
