About TIMSS 2019
IEA’s TIMSS enables countries around the world to measure how effective they are in teaching mathematics and science. Entering into its third decade and seventh cycle of data collection, TIMSS is a well established international assessment conducted every four years since 1995 — the longest of any international education study.
eTIMSS 2019: All the Benefits of TIMSS with More Student Engagement and Operational Efficiencies
TIMSS 2019 marks the debut of eTIMSS, an electronic version of TIMSS. eTIMSS offers an engaging, interactive, and visually attractive assessment that will assess complex areas of the frameworks and increase operational efficiency in translation, assessment delivery, data entry, and scoring. It is anticipated that about half the countries participating in TIMSS 2019 will transition to administering the assessment via computer. The rest of the countries will administer TIMSS in a paper-and-pencil format as in previous assessments.
